2019 – 2020

The series of collages under the name „Houses“ was created during two completely different periods in my life.

I made the first, smaller series of “Houses” after a tourist visit to Amsterdam, which left me feeling nostalgic.

The second, bigger series of „Houses“ I created after an earthquake hit Zagreb in March of 2020. I needed to get rid of negative thoughts, anxieties, and fears which I was feeling as a consequence. I started gluing papers and making small, colorful cities. The unity and compassion that people showed after the catastrophe prompted utopian thinking about a better tomorrow. I was thinking about a rebuilt old Zagreb without holes on roofs, crumbling chimneys, and sad looks in people’s eyes. The unbreakable spirit of good people surrounded by sad scenes inspired me to give the collages an optimistic note.
